SAN FRANCISCO HEALTH SERVICE SYSTEM: During this pandemic, we all have been hampered, forcing us to go out of our norm of operation. And your Health Service System is doing its best to aid your concerns. By logging on to SFHSS.org website, you will see several sites to access for dental care, mental health, pediatric care, specifically on routine pediatric immunizations. Also, on the SF City and County website there is information on getting healthcare-during-coronavirus-pandemic. SAN FRANCISCO EMPLOYEE RETIREMENT SYSTEM (SFERS): Returns for the fiscal year of 2019-2020 returns are close to be being finalized. And update estimate has a return of 2.41%, this is a good sign especially during the COVID pandemic. On the calendar year basis, SFERS portfolio has posted a return of a -0.10%. Our Public Equity portfolio is now in the green, up 5.79%, recapturing all the nearly 35% decline that occurred from February 20 to March 23. Fixed income has gained 2.82% for the calendar year while Private Equity has edged out a 0.32%. Private Credit has lost -3.31% YTD while Absolute Return and Real Assets are down -5.77% and -7.21%, respectively. We all know the damage that COVID has done to the world economy. But thanks to today’s technology, software, and communications have helped make COVID-19 less damaging than it would have been at any other time in history. That is because tens of millions of jobs have moved to the digital world. SFERS is currently recruiting for an inaugural Manager of Investment Operations position.
PROTECT OUR BENEFITS BOARD:With the political season heating and COVID still with us. POB is still trying to find out how candidates feel toward retirees. We are pursing avenues to get our message across to different retiree groups and unions, whether they are local or regional. At the times, the slow progress becomes frustrating. But we are hanging in there and we will succeed.
