CCSF V. SFERS (PRE-1996)

To date, oral arguments have not been scheduled. The Appellate Court may be waiting for rulings on several other pension-related cases currently pending at the California Supreme Court. POB will be monitoring these cases and provide updates.

Health Service System

In an effort to better serve you, Health Service System is upgrading our phone system. Please be patient with us as we work through the transition. In the meantime, continue using the existing number.  The new service is provided by UHC and Kaiser through Medicare. It is a non-emergency transportation service to scheduled physician visits. Enrollees are limited to 24 one-way trips or 12 round-trip appointments.

To schedule, have your medical ID on hand and call 1-833-219-1182. If you are a member of United Health Care and if you’re a Kaiser member call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card.  As always, remember that you are your best health advocate.

SFERS Retirement Board

At the SFERS quarterly meeting on February 7, the board announced that SFERS is 89.9% funded. SFERS total fund is valued at $24.7 billion and has posted positive returns of 1.01% for the fiscal year to date. Additionally, Deferred Comp has transitioned from Prudential to VOYA, an off-spring of the old ING.

Protect Our Benefits

On February 11, the POB board held a strategic meeting to set future goals and objectives. As a board, we are always striving to better serve you and complete our mission. Topics such as recruitment, education, communications, and outreach were discussed. The board agreed to form committees to assess these areas moving forward. Protecting the health and retirement benefits of all CCSF Retirees is the heart of our mission. As we continue working with you to that end, we remember that “United We Stand, Divided We Fall“. Thank you for allowing us to serve you!

Your continuing contributions and support are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. Please mail them to Protect Our Benefits Trust, P.O. 2120250, San Francisco, Ca. 94121-0250 or CLICK HERE to donate today!
