SAN FRANCISCO HEALTH SERVICE SYSTEM
Once again SFHSS is operating in a virtual environment and is closed to the public. Open enrollment was very successful with many firsts. Using the virtual health fairs in the form of webinars, and expanded eBenefits to more employers it helped make this open enrollment one of the most efficient. Improved communication materials including updated web pages, helped reduce overall member interaction with HSS member services while open enrollment transactions increased significantly from last year. Member services will complete the processing of open enrollment transactions a full week ahead of schedule. Any questions? SAN FRANCISCO EMPLOYEE RETIREMENT SYSTEM (SFERS)
October 2020, SFERS investments lost -0.37%. Public Equity declined -1.44%. Even if it was down it was compared favorably to the MSCI ACWI and S&P 500 which lost -2.41% and -2.66% during the month. For the first months of FY2020-21 the SFERS portfolio has gained 6.21%. SFERS Private Equity investments have surged 13.42%, backed by strong demand for tech-related solutions as well as a powerful M&A (Mergers and Acquisitions Market) in the tech sector. Our Public Equity portfolio is up 8.78% the past four months. Over the same period, the MSCI ACWI and S&P has gained 5.65% and 6.03%, respectively. With ten months of calendar year 2020 in the books, SFERS portfolio is up 3.54%. Our Private Equity investments have recorded a gain of 13.42%, thanks to the manager selection and the outsized gains in technology. The SFERS FUND is currently at $28 Billion in total assets. Received word that Commissioner Joe Driscoll will retain his Trustee position on the SFERS Board which will be for 5 years. He ran unopposed. POB is looking forward to working with Joe.
