SAN FRANCISCO HEALTH SERVICE SYSTEM
There is a blackout Period Timeframe: The Annual Period Rates and Benefits for the 2024 plan year will conclude after the Board of Supervisors final approval of the health plan rates and benefits in July 2023.
MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH the focus is on removing the stigma around mental health this month. There are several webinars and training where individuals will have the opportunity to learn about mental health resources, benefits, and how to recognize when someone needs help through online training and webinars. Many of ancient practices of Qi Gong, Yoga, and Meditation. You can find these, and a wealth of other workshops, seminars, and classes featured on the SFHSS Well-Being Calendar. SFHSS is also encouraging members to check in with their mental health using available EAP counseling and free mental health support apps through our health plans.
SAN FRANCISCO EMPLOYEE RETIREMENT BOARD (SFERS)
As of April 30,2023, SFERS Total Fund Value was $33.155 Billion. The Fiscal Year to Date investment earnings was 2.07%.
At the May 18,2023 SFERS meeting SFERS Board voted in favor of allowing remote public comment for everyone. This is very important for many of our senior retires who for a variety of reasons are unable to attend a SFERS meeting in person. POB believes public comment from the public can provide information for SFERS Commissioners and enhance their understanding of the issues coming before it.
SFERS also provided a 2023 Annual Liquidity Management Update. This provides timely and accurate information and is a prerequisite to sound fund management. A key takeaway from this report is that SFERS Trust has sufficient liquidity to meet its obligations.

POB would like to congratulate Al Casciato and Tim O’Connor for election to SF Health Service Trust Fund and San Francisco Employees Retirement System. They had no opposition. POB endorsed them early. They both know what a fiduciary means.
