This being the month of December the City always seems to go into a slowdown. Once again if you feel you should get a COVID Booster by all means get it!! SAN FRANCISCO EMPLOYEE RETIREMENT SYSTEM (SFERS)
As you probably already know there was some volatility in the stock markets this November. The markets grappled with the emergence of the Omicron strain of the COVID-19 virus, persistent concerns about inflation, and a likely acceleration of the Federal Reserve’s planned tapering of bond purchases. SFFER’s was down an estimated -0.04% in November. Still SFERS has generated an estimated return of 5.01% over the first five months of the fiscal year. SFERS has also generated an estimated return of 20.38% for the calendar year through November 30th. SFERS estimated assets at the end of November are $36.5 Billion. The Supplemental Cola for Fiscal Year 2020-2021 will be paid on your stipend at the end of Feb. 2022.
PROTECT OUR BENEFITS (POB)
One of the founding sisters of POB, Nancy W. Gin, recently passed. Nancy passed on November 24 in her sleep. She had been in ill health for some time. Those who remember Nancy know she was a true stalwart for City workers. She tried to improve benefits and was a driving force to establish the Supplemental Cola. POB would like to refer to our Ballot measure as the Nancy Gin Charter Amendment to honor Nancy. WE must complete her vision by restoring the SCOLA to the pre 1996ers.
