In a surprise move, on November 12, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the bi-partisan Social Security Fairness Act, HR 82, which would eliminate two unfair provisions that reduce or eliminate social security benefits for more than 2 million American public servants. The bill was enthusiastically supported by labor unions from Police and Fire to teachers and letter carriers. The bill will now go to the Senate. Stay tuned.
