POB would like to welcome Rey Guillen as the new SFHSS Interim Director. Guillen took over leadership of the organization on March 11, 2025 following the retirement of former Executive Director Abby Yant. Guillen had served as SFHSS’s Chief Operating Officer for the past three years, and over 20 years managing employee benefit programs for other Northern California counties, including San Mateo and Santa Clara.
Guillen’s parents were both public servants. He noted he grew up enjoying healthcare provided by the local municipalities they worked for, and so understand the value of good employee benefits .”I know firsthand how important it is for me to work hard to protect the quality, reliable health benefits that you and your family depend on.”
We welcome Guillen to his new position, and can report that he has been accommodating to our efforts and concerns over the transition to the Blue Shield CA health plan. We look forward to continuing to work with him until the process is complete.
