SAN FRANCISCO
On Tuesday February 25, Mayor Breed declared a local emergency in the City and County of San Francisco to prepare for COVID -19 (Novel Coronavirus) and as of this writing it has grown into a national crisis. This virus has vastly curtailed all City board meetings (Health and Retirement Boards) and basically closed City Hall. City Hall is basically working from their homes and e-mails. The City’s NUMBER ONE FOCUS IS THE CORONAVIRUS
SAN FRANCISCO HEALTH SERVICE SYSTEM
The Health Service is still operating. Of course, the best way to communicate with the HSS is through e-mail or on the phone. What we can tell you is, the vendor black out period is still on. The Health Service Board election has declared Claire Zvanski as the newest member of the Health Service Board. POB wishes to congratulate Claire. We know the HSS is doing their best they can do in these trying times.
SAN FRANCISCO RETIREMENT BOARD (SFERS)
Well what can we tell you. One day to next, you just don’t know. Of course, POB is concerned, and we went right to one of the sources. SFERS is better positioned to weather an economic downturn better than we were in 2008. How? SFERS with its staff was able to reduce the number of stock investments and invested in diversification. One example during the month of Feb. 2020 the S&P was down -8.41%, SFERS was down only down -1.94%. REMEMBER, SFERS INVESTMENTS ARE DESIGNED TO PERFORM OVER THE LONG TERM!!!!!

Stay safe!! Most of our readers are elderly, we know what to do, just like our parents told us to do!! WASH YOUR HANDS, COVER YOUR MOUTH AND NOSES, AND KEEP A SOCIAL DISTANCE FROM EACH OTHER! This is an outreach to everyone. We will get through this, stay strong and don’t give up HOPE!!
POB is still fighting to get the ballot issue on the ballot, WE’LL GET IT ON THE BALLOT! POB has been hampered by the many obstacles of court decisions, City Hall shutdowns, social isolations. Many hiccups along the way, but we’ll get it done!! Keep the faith and stay strong.
