San Francisco Health Service
There will be an election on the Health Service Board, Willie Lim will be retiring. The election for his seat will be in May. Nominations are open between 1/10-2/14, any member of the HSS can run, need not be a resident of San Francisco. Any questions can be directed to e-mail address: HSB.Elections@sfgov.org. The Operations Team is also aware of this communications plan, so if people call or walk into the office for election needs, they will be directed to the Board Secretary.
Be sure to look in your Health Benefits booklet. There are changes in coverage and areas of coverage to be prepared for 2020. Remember YOU are your Best Advocate.
San Francisco Retirement Board (SFERS)
In the month of December SFERS investments gained 1.04% during the month, led by another strong rally in public equity which posted a return of 2.83% in December. Private Equity edged up 0.49% while Private and Real Assets declined by -0.98% and -0.69%, respectively. Fixed income extended its surprisingly strong performance, gaining 0.67% during the month as bond yields continue to decline.
Fiscal year to date, in the first half of 2019, SFERS investments gained 4.66%. Public Equity and Private Equity gained 7.62% and 4.68%, respectively. All other assets classes have earned between 1.14% and 2.99% so far, this fiscal year.
Executive Director Jay Huish at SFERS January meeting that he will be retiring this coming June. SFERS will start looking for his replacement.
Protect Our Benefits Board
POB has been very busy drawing up the proposed ballot issue for the “96ers”. We have engaged professionals to provide legal services with respect to its work on the initiative. Once we have the “hard copy” we can approach the politicians, unions, supporters and the public. We are on our way to November. More information will be decimated in the coming months.
