Protect Our Benefits, Inc. (POB) is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to protecting and enhancing the health benefits of retirees in the San Francisco Health Service System (HSS) and the pension benefits of retirees in the San Francisco Employees Retirement System (SFERS).

As of 2022, SFERS has 74,000 active, vested, and retiree members, including surviving spouses, qualified domestic partners, and members who sustained an injury or illness that prevented them from performing their duties on disability. As of 2022, the HSS has 40,265 retirees and their dependents enrolled in member-benefit health plans. We work to strengthen alliances with groups that already share POB’s objectives and to establish new relationships with other groups and individuals that have similar objectives. We are committed to taking the legal and political actions necessary to achieve our goals.
