Effective immediately all retirees of San Francisco who contact POB, RECCSF or C.A.R.A. should send their emails to Health Service System ASAP: HSS.retiree.concerns@sfgov.org. By emailing HSS directly, it will enable HSS to log each of the issue of concern with Blue Shield. HSS will forward concern to Blue Shield. POB has been assured by HSS that this will not cause delays, but in fairness to HSS they must be aware of all concerns and complaints.
POB has been working with its allies to bring attention to all the cascading issues and stress that these unacceptable retiree denials and treatment delays from Blue Shield have caused.
Delays to SFFD firefighters suffering from cancer led to a joint press conference hosted by San Francisco Cancer Prevention Foundation and SFFD Local 798 Firefighters Union. The rally attendees were happy to see the board media coverage present. Most importantly Mayor Laurie and Supervisors Doresy and Chan spoke very passionately about their support to stop the delays from Blue Shield. The Supervisors laid out a plan calling for a Letter of Inquiry to testify before the Board of Supervisors. They have told us they will even use subpoena power if necessary.
