Changes in the HSS Leadership

Abbie Yant, the HSS Executive Director since 2018, has informed Fred Sanchez/POB President that she will be retiring this November after nearly seven years in her position of overseeing the $800 million San Francisco employee benefits program. Now, the seven member HSS board of trustees will be conducting a search for a new Executive Director.

POB will be closely monitoring the hiring process. We have much at stake and want to be sure our retired members’ voices are hard. The outcome of the November 2024 San Francisco mayoral election will decide the makeup of the four appointed board members. Vote wisely. Your future healthcare benefits will depend on it.

Since POB is a 501C3 non-profit corporation, we cannot endorse candidates running for office. POB is only allowed to endorse ballot measures. Still, we can encourage everyone to learn the issues, learn about the candidates and what they stand for and to vote!
